Cancer

Five things that i learned about cancer was one, that there are multiple ways to get it, two, there are multiple ways to fight it, three, I learned that the survival rates differ form cancer to cancer, four, that their is more cancer out there than I thought, and finally, i learned that not all tumors are cancerous.

I have a few questions like, is their more cancers out their, and if so, what are they. Over all i really liked this project, i liked presenting to the class. Although it was not so great when i didn't fully understand it.

cancer project

From this project i have gotten some questions such as what was the most common type of cancer back in the early 1990s ? Also what does it mean if the cancer has metastasized and the doctor gives you really bad options? my last question is that if you were in remission and you get it again are your chances of living higher or lower than the first time. One thing I liked about this project is that you allowed us to ask questions. But one thing I did not like however is the length of the project i would have added a day so that the groups could make sure they had it down pat.
What I learned was that there are stages of cancer. Cancer can more to other parts of the body. It can often be over looked. It can spread very fast and sometimes it can not be stopped. Some of the treatments do not always work. I still wonder how many types of cancer there are. One thing I liked about this project is that it taught me a lot about cancer. One think I didn't like was that it seemed like we repeated all of the information.
i learned that cancer can happen to anyone no matter how old.
Canchemo, cancer is in many shapes and forms it can happen anywhere like mouth lungs hair.
metatsis is a cancer that can be spread throughout the body.
theres many tipes of theorpy like chemo , radation . chemo is when drugs are transputed in the body killing cells.
Radiation stops the cancer from multipling.

dislike was looking a t cancer vitiums
liked was giving my self a heads up on cancers.

quetons: !. i have question on how long somone can get it and when.

Cancer (one day late :L)

Five things I Learned:
1. Not all tumors are cancerous, only malignant tumors are.

2. Men can get breast cancer, its just not near as likely as it is for Women.

3. That tumors are made by a mass of cells that are replicating so fast they can't spread themselves out, so they just pile on top of eachother.

4. that the spread of cancer is called Metastasis.

5. That half the time cancer is caused by genetics, not by anything you have been in contact with.

___________________________________________________________________

Things I still have questions about:

1.Can you contract numerous cancers at one time, and what are the chances?

2. How many different types of cancer are there, besides from the more commonly known ones like Lung Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, etc..
____________________________________________________________________
One thing I liked about the Project is that You got to learn alot more about you type of cancer than you normally would, and you got to learn about the statistics of that cancer, survival rate, etc
____________________________________________________________________
One thing I didnt like is that on some parts in the project you had to come up with answers for questions that may not pertain to your type of cancer.

Cancer
Five Things I learned:

  1. That a tumor is made of a bunch of cancerous cells piling on top of each other.
  2. That when cancer spreads it's called Metastasis.
  3. That Raditationtherapy is when they aim for a certain area with gamma rays and get rid of the cells. Chemotherapy is when they inject the cancer killing drugs in the body, where it is needed.
  4. I also learned that cancer can happen to anyone, half of the time it is transfered by genetics. But also there are some unhealthy living habits that can take affect on chances of contracting a certain kind of cancer.
  5. That Malignant means the tumor is cancerous, and benign is where the tumor is not cancerous.

Two Things I Still Have Questions About:

  1. What are the chances of contracting numerous cancers at one time?
  2. How many cancers are there in the world?

One Thing I Liked: I like this cancer project, because it made it feel like a real life situation. Not only that but I did learn a lot about what cancer is, and now I know what my Grandma was dealing with.

One thing I Didn't Like: How we only really got to learn about one certain cancer, I would have liked to have done a project for all of them, I felt like I did not learn nearly as much on the individual one.

Cancer

5 Things I learned:

  1. Cancers can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, health level.

  2. Every one in two people are affected by cancer at some point in there life.

  3. Just because there is treatment for cancers, doesnt mean they can always help, some can actually make you sicker.

  4. Both men and women can get breast cancer.

  5. Cancers are silent killers, and most times you dont discover them until its too late.

2 Things I still have questions about:

  1. What componet does a malignant tumor have that benign tumor doesnt to make it cancerous?

  2. is it possible to have two different types of cancer at once?

One Thing i liked: I enjoyed learning about these cancers because it was an eye opening experience, i never realized how deadly cancer is.

One thing i didnt like: Learning how dangerous cancer is, and what the odds are of getting it.

First of all I was wondering if plants can get cancer? If they can how do they go through metastasis because their circulitory system different

What I didn't like about this unit was when we were assigned to a cancer and I was assigned to prostate cancer, and I found it rather akward to talk about the prostate gland in front of my class mates.

What I liked on the other hand was that we were working in groups to explain the cancer that we were assigned.

I learned what metastasis is it is when cancer moves throughout the body through the circulitory system. I also learned about the different check points and that if they fail there is an uncontrolled multiplication of cells, that may or may not have mutations within them. Another thing is I didn't know that not all tumors are cancerous. I learned more about treatments for cancer, how radiation theropy focases on a specific place, and how chemotheropy makes you lose your hair because the hair folicals divide similarly to cancer cells. Lastly I learned that milignant is when a tumor is cancerous and bengin is when it is not.

Billie's cancer project

Stuff I learned:
1. Older men have a higher risk of prostate cancer
2. Often times a healthy diet can prevent prostate cancer
3. Processed surgars are very bad for you if you have cancer
4. All therapys have their own risks
5. Men who are sexually active have a lower risk of getting prostate cancer.
Questions:
1. Why isn't it likely that kids can get.prostate cancer.
1 thing I liked: that we learned so many things about cancer.
1 thing I didn't like: that we had to use google docs.

Cancer Project: Ryan Falk

5 things I learned about during this project:
1. It doesn't matter if your male or female, you can get cancer no matter which gender. some are just more common in one then the other.
2. When cancer spreads it is called metastasis, and that it goes through the blood stream when it spreads.
3. the difference between chemo and radiation is raditation is when they target a certain area with gamma rays and destroy the cells. where chemo is when they inject the cancer killing drugs into the body.
4. Malignant means the tumor is cancerous, and benign is when it does not have cancer.
5. Cancer is very common, and there are a lot of things that cause it. smoking, poor diet, and not excersising. are some of the more common things that can later cause cancer.

Questions I still have:
If we have cancer cells in us everyday, then how come we don't have cancer?
If we can destroy cancer cells through chemo, then how come it can't be taken through a pill with no side effects?

What I liked:
I liked a lot about this project, it really showed you how common cancer is and how it can happen to anyone. And you learned all about how the cancer starts and how it spreads and what it causes.

What I didn't like:
I didn't like how we had to figure out their survival rate, because no matter what site you looked at everyone said a different thing. I also didn't really like the side project of what ever type of cancer you wanted to research. It seemed like a chore, and i felt like I didn't learn as much from it as i did the actual project.

I really liked this project, I really learned a lot about cancer. from the side effects to how it starts out in your body. This project was really great.

Katie Cheers (Cancer Blog)

Five Thing I Learned:

1. Some cancer actuallty can be from previous genes.

2. There are two types of breast cancer.

3. If you dont use tobacco you have the same chance of getting lung cancer as someone who does.

4. Men can get breast cancer also.

5. You can get cancer from over processed foods.

Questions:

1. How young of an age does cancer become more of a threat?

1 Like:

How we learned how easily cancer can take effect.

1 Dislike:

It was a lot of work for one week, but also it helped us to get it done faster.

Cancer Project

Some things I learned about cancer are:

  • Pomegranates help fight cancer

  • Ovarian and Breast cancer are connected

  • Sugar helps cancer cells grow

  • Getting exercise every day helps fight cancer

  • Drinking a lot of alcohol can cause cancer

Bailey Perry

5 Things Learned-

1. There is 3 types of therapy a person can take for lung cancer.
2. Chemotherapy kills cancer cells through out the whole body unlike Radiation and Surgical because they focus of one spot of the body and taking out the cancer in that one spot.
3. There is stages in every type of cancer showing how much the cancer has spread through the body.
4. The reason why people lose their hair from Chemo is because it can kill your hair folicals making your hair fall out
5. Lung cancer is the second most common cancer that occurs in humans.

Questions-

1. Do more people get lung cancer from second-hand smoke then they do from actually smoking?

2. How many people die from lung cancer a year?

Disliked-

1. figuring out what excercises people should do with lung cancer.

Liked-

1. How it felt like an actual project for helping someone with lung cancer.

Cancer

5 things i learned about IBC. I learned that it dosnt just stay in the breast it also can travle and go into your body. Inflamitory Breast Cancer is dealdy, it kills alot of people every day. If you dont keep a healthy diet then you can have a high chance of getting it. Alot of cases are on girls but there is also a chance that guys can get it also. A few questions that i still have it how did cancer start and where did it come from? My other one is when we will we have a stong cure that doctors can use on the patiens so that they can live the reast of there life.?

Cancer Project

5 things I learned about Cancer. The cancer I had was Prostate Cancer, and usually African American men get this which I didn't know. Another thing is I never knew that there were so many cancers. I also never knew that prostate cancer was in the guys part. I also didn't know that cancer could be passed down by other family members. Also that working out can help you get rid of your cancer, and even eating healthy. 2 qusetions I still have are how did cancer even start? Another question is why does cancer spread so quickly? Something I liked about this project was that it was interesting learnging about a cancer that I didn't already know about. Something I didn't like was that I couldn't find some of my research I was looking for.
