5 things I learned about during this project:
1. It doesn't matter if your male or female, you can get cancer no matter which gender. some are just more common in one then the other.
2. When cancer spreads it is called metastasis, and that it goes through the blood stream when it spreads.
3. the difference between chemo and radiation is raditation is when they target a certain area with gamma rays and destroy the cells. where chemo is when they inject the cancer killing drugs into the body.
4. Malignant means the tumor is cancerous, and benign is when it does not have cancer.
5. Cancer is very common, and there are a lot of things that cause it. smoking, poor diet, and not excersising. are some of the more common things that can later cause cancer.
Questions I still have:
If we have cancer cells in us everyday, then how come we don't have cancer?
If we can destroy cancer cells through chemo, then how come it can't be taken through a pill with no side effects?
What I liked:
I liked a lot about this project, it really showed you how common cancer is and how it can happen to anyone. And you learned all about how the cancer starts and how it spreads and what it causes.
What I didn't like:
I didn't like how we had to figure out their survival rate, because no matter what site you looked at everyone said a different thing. I also didn't really like the side project of what ever type of cancer you wanted to research. It seemed like a chore, and i felt like I didn't learn as much from it as i did the actual project.
I really liked this project, I really learned a lot about cancer. from the side effects to how it starts out in your body. This project was really great.
